This pen was produced by the famous Maki-e artist and pen maker Mr. Hironobu Okazaki. The finish of the pen as you can see has red line's flowing in and out of the wood grain of the pen. This wood grain is known as "Urushi", and has a sandle wood pattern finish to it. The pen itself is an exquisite work of art. Now to the background of the pen. The "kaeru" or frog as it is known in Japan, is sometimes better known to many as a symbol of good fortune.
